CLINIC HAPPENINGS
CLINIC HAPPENINGS
HP Psychological Associates is proud to announce a new partnership with Mental Health Systems (MHS), uniting two respected providers in a shared mission to enhance mental health care accessibility throughout Minnesota. Officially launched in December 2024, this collaboration is centered on expanding access to evidence-based care—including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—and utilizing telehealth to better serve clients in rural and underserved communities.
In February 2025, the partnership kicked off with a well-attended DBT training session in Duluth, helping local professionals expand their skills and strengthening the clinical network in the region.
Working Together for Client-Centered Care
This partnership is rooted in a mutual dedication to meeting the evolving mental health needs of Minnesotans. By combining the clinical expertise and resources of both organizations, the collaboration aims to streamline referrals, expand treatment offerings, and ultimately improve outcomes for clients statewide.
“We want to provide the most comprehensive services possible for our clients,” said Dr. Kimberly Overlie, Licensed Psychologist and owner of HP Psychological Associates. “This partnership is all about enhancing what we already offer, so our clients benefit from broader access and deeper support.”
Dr. Lane Pederson, co-owner of MHS and a nationally recognized expert in DBT, echoed the importance of building strong professional networks: “These types of trainings and partnerships help providers understand each other’s strengths and services. That collaboration lets us bridge coverage gaps and deliver more targeted, effective care to the people who need it most.”
Shared Services, Complementary Strengths
Both HP Psychological Associates and MHS bring specialized services to the table.
HP Psychological Associates offers individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults coping with challenges such as emotional and behavioral difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, anger, and life transitions, is a DHS certified DBT program, and offers psychological and neuropsychological assessment for ages 6 and older. With a well-established clinic in Duluth and a clinic in Forest Lake, as well as secure telehealth options, HP Psychological Associates is committed to accessible, compassionate care across Minnesota.
Mental Health Systems (MHS) provides comprehensive DBT programming for adolescents, adults, and specialty populations. Their expertise includes treatment for individuals managing trauma, co-occurring disorders, and high-risk behaviors. MHS operates several clinics across the Twin Cities metro area and offers virtual treatment through its Virtu-Clinic platform.
Improving Rural Mental Health Access Through Innovation
At the heart of this collaboration is a shared commitment to reaching clients who might otherwise struggle to access care. Telehealth plays a crucial role in achieving that goal – especially for residents in rural communities where mental health providers may be scarce.
By coordinating care, sharing knowledge, and aligning treatment philosophies, HP Psychological Associates and MHS are working toward a more responsive, equitable mental health system across Minnesota.
This partnership reflects what is possible when mental health organizations work together – enhanced access, deeper expertise, and stronger support for every client.
As a community partner with the shared goal of enhancing the quality of care throughout Minnesota, we are excited to co-sponsor the following MHS trainings:
